If you are not a serious athlete, any sports drink is not necessary in order to replenish your electrolytes, vitamins, sodium, and glucose needs. If you are drinking a sports drink without exercise, think of it more as a treat because of the high-sugar content. If you want to be healthy, drink water and consume a diet that is naturally high in vitamins, such as a diet high in fruits and vegetables, especially dark leafy greens and cruciferous vegetables. Fruits and veggies have natural sources of vitamins, electrolytes, and glucose and are in a form that are more bio-available allowing your body to use these nutrients more easily. For athletes who want to restore and grow muscle, add protein sources to your diet (animal or plant-based).
